How much does a wedding videographer cost?

This is a tough one to know the answer to, both for couples and perhaps even suppliers. With a constant rise of people taking up content creation or wedding videography, lots are in a race to get as many bookings as they can (understandably!). From through research as I have continued to try and grow and improve my business it seems the Hampshire, UK average weddign videographer is between £1500- £2500, although this typically only delivers a 5-10 maybe 20 minute film depending on who you look at. However instead of asking how much does a videographer cost, the more important one seems to be, is it worth having one?
I see this question pop up more and more often now, and the answer is typically, well that depends on what is it that you want from your day? Wedding photography is a staple piece, its something that will be there forever and very rarely do people not have a photographer. However despite being a videographer, I appreciate due to prices that sometimes it is very much a luxury for couples to book one.
Based on several factors the answer to how much does a wedding videographer cost comes down to, how long have they been doing their job? What are they adding in terms of value to your day? What are they delivering to you as a final product?
Unfortunately I think sometimes people still perhaps assume that wedding films are sometimes just like the ones we watched our parents or even grandparents have. Something a guest or a family member recorded and delivered on a VHS or DVD (starting to show my age now!), but in reality they are so much more than that! Everything to do with videography has changed so much, from the quality of footage, to the quality of audio, the choice of music that can be added to the films, not too even start mentioning how every videographer has their own style, their own different length and number of final products.
Seeing all these variables I can truly understand the overwhelming choice that couples may face when deciding whether to have one, let alone which person to choose!
Bringing it back to cost and what I personally deliver, I love to focus on you the couple and all the individuals you decide to have with you for your day, the time and effort spent planning and preparing for your one special day. Which is why the films that I create are sometimes long, but this gives breathing room for me to capture and include all the small details, as well as the big moments too! From bouquets to name cards, the laughter and excitement at birdal prep and to the first look from your soon to be husband or wife as they see you for the first time. All these moments are hard to sqeeze and show to their full effect by trying to squeeze them into a 5-10 minute film.
